Testing a few ideas this week and expres

Testing a few ideas this week and expressing gratitude to our Family Dobes family members and social media followers. In order to test the value of Social media marketing we are offering a THANKSgiving week special to all existing FamilyDobes family members and to first time clients as well. We don’t like to use the term “Black Friday” although Dobermans do come in black, and we have some that will be ready for the Friday before Christmas! Also I am curious if the “coupon” type marketing that applies to most retail businesses makes any difference in important decisions and commitments such as bringing a new Doberman into the home. So here is the skinny. Send us an email with the subject line THANKSgiving social media special to find out what special may be available to you!

Are struggling to find a good trainer fo

Are struggling to find a good trainer for your Doberman? Most of the time training always goes best if you are part of it, and many people are surprised to learn just how much they are capable of with just a few tools. Here is a link we want to share with you that will put those tools in your hand so you and your Doberman can be great ambassadors for the breed and for dog owners.

It is a day to honor all those who have

It is a day to honor all those who have fought for their countries, regardless of the politics or boundaries. I am not a veteran, I am not sure I have the courage to have been one. When I was young I was hot tempered enough and strong willed enough to “hate my enemy” and perhaps that would have been enough. As I have matured I really have realized that all men are my brothers and I don’t want to harm any of them. I don’t want them to harm each other. Sadly we live in a world though where that is just not a reality no matter how badly we long for it. I am grateful for the many blessings in my life that have come solely because of the sacrifice of other great men and women. I mourn the loss of those who perished in conflicts on both sides of the line. I admire the resilience of nations that has allowed Japanese, Germans, Americans etc to all work together today and leave the past behind. I had a History teacher once who had lost his leg in the war to an American and it was hard for him to let that go, but most of the German people I know today are my friends. All of the Japanese people I know today are my friends despite the conflicts of our ancestors. I honor all those men and women today on both sides of the line who gave us what freedom and liberty we still have. I honor them by trying to lead a peaceful life and opposing the thought of sending more men and women into battle again. I oppose tyranny in all of its forms and wish the American people would refuse it today from their corrupt leaders, but I don’t want to see bloodshed. We live in a world of abundance where there really is enough for all of us to live well if we help one another and share. I wish more of us would and could do that. I am thankful for the greatest generation there ever was and for what they were willing to do for all of us. Thank you Veterans! And to World leaders I issue the admonition that it is up to you to find peaceful resolutions through conflict.

It has been a very busy week here at the

It has been a very busy week here at the kennel with three new litters being born. Some of you are already FamilyDobes family members and may be looking for a new puppy to add to your pack, some of you may be waiting to get your first, and some may just be in the position to enjoy them on the puppy cam for now. Whichever position you find yourself in, we have some great puppies to watch, fall in love with or make part of your home. This month is commonly becoming gratitude month and we decided to show our gratitude with a never before offered idea. We are going to do a free one day seminar here in Utah before the weather gets much worse for anyone who has a FamilyDobes Doberman, and if you don’t have one the cost will only be $50 for the day. November 30th will be the day we offer this first ever opportunity and reservations must be made in advance. I realize it is short notice for many people to make travel plans, but if it works for you great! If there is not a large enough turnout that day, I will go elk hunting with my boys instead 😉 We will be trying to put together a 3 day bootcamp in southern California as well for the month of December if there is enough interest. And there is a possibility of a late January early February Florida area bootcamp this year.
If you want to see all the cute new puppies available go ahead and click the link below they will be ready to go home about CHRISTmas time http://www.familydobes.com/Doberman_puppy_for_sale.htm

November has come and hopefully everyone

November has come and hopefully everyone got through Halloween without incident, belly aches, or cavities  Looking ahead to the rest of the month we have one of my favorite Holidays coming up, THANKSgiving. I am inspired lately by a new singer/songwriter someone introduced me to Darrel Scott and his song “Day before THANKSgiving” Which you can listen to here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZCBHkjp29_o
It put a new twist on the idea for me, and though I don’t know how the Holiday really began, I know what it is for me today. It is a time to pause and reflect on the many things that I do still have to be thankful for despite life’s difficulties. We all have struggles in our lives, some visible and others hidden, some serious and overwhelming and others not nearly so. Yet despite whatever life may have brought to you, there is much to be THANKful for, and more than that, there are gifts you have to share that others are desperate for. Wherever you live, someone is desperate for something you have an abundance of. For some it may be simple such as food, clothing or shelter. I look at how much food we typically waste as Americans and I think of how many within a 50 mile radius of me go hungry. Some are starved for attention, or affection. Others a kind word or a simple conversation. I could go on and on but this isn’t Sunday school, so I will let you do your own self reflecting. I am grateful that over the years we have been able to help many people through our great Dobermans. I extend an invitation to other Family Dobes family members to help others with your great dogs as well. Consider things such as reading programs where kids improve their reading skills by reading to a non-judgmental canine partner
http://www.tdi-dog.org/OurPrograms.aspx?Page=Children+Reading+to+Dogs
Or consider Therapy work with local children’s hospitals, retirement homes etc. Where there is a proven scientific link to faster healing and mood elevation just by looking into a dogs eyes. That effect is multiplied by petting a dog. Think of all we can do for others from our lives of relative abundance. You may be missing some things in your own life, and I can assure you that you will be fulfilled in serving these other important people. I am going to go out of my way to share my time and food with strangers this coming week because I can and I want to.
Coming up on THANKSgiving I remind you that many holiday items are toxic to dogs. Cooked turkey bones can be life threatening to your dog, and they are also irresistible. Many sugar substitutes used in holiday baking are poison as well (to you too but that is another story). Keep your dog safe by keeping potentially dangerous things away from them. Holiday plants that may start getting put out can be poisonous as well such as poinsettias. There is a full list of toxic plants on our website and in our Doberman app, as well as a first aid section. There are weather concerns which we addressed in the last newsletter, but a reader’s digest version again is that if you are uncomfortable in the weather, your dog likely is as well. Ice melt in many parts of the country can burn dogs feet, if you use ice melt, be sure to get the petsafe kind, and if you walk your dog out on public sidewalks or roads, consider boots to prevent chemical burns. If you are having company over for the big meal, be sure to plan ahead to have your Dog socialized and ready for company or safely kept away from them and the stress they bring.
I also want to say THANK YOU! To those we have met along our journey and shared some time with. You guys keep me going when the going is hard and it has been very hard this year. Thank you for sharing your updates and pictures with me. Thank you for taking great care of this wonderful breed. I am THANKful that I am able to spend my time in pursuit of the dream of the perfect Doberman and I am so much closer than I was 25 years ago. I am grateful I get to share time training and otherwise with many of…
