We are currently looking for pet friendly hotels in the area.
Cost for the seminar is a non-refundable $250 (includes Family Dobes Hoodie and Family Dobes Hat), all dog participants must bring proof of current vaccinations including kennel cough and sign a waiver for the property owner when we arrive. Tentative schedule is going to be 8-12and 2-6 each day, but I stress tentative because it really is up to the dogs. We usually do Lunch and Dinner together each day as a group at a local restaurant. Friday morning we will start early to get to know everyone and their dogs as well as their training goals for the weekend.
We will have a photographer on hand and prints will be available for purchase and or download.
Come prepared to have a great time and learn a lot, your dog will learn a lot as well as long as you are open minded and prepared. You will get the most out of weekend if you do some reading beforehand. Registered participants will also get a copy of our training section from our Doberman E-book to prepare you for my way of thinking.

What you are required to bring:
Yourself and your Dog both with a good attitude.
A crate to keep your dog secure when you are not working, food, food and water dishes, your dogs favorite motivational toys and treats, 6 foot leather leash, flat collar either nylon or leather, a harness for protection work if you are going to be doing protection, current vaccination records including kennel cough. We recommend Microchips and dog tags.

What is it exactly? It is when a Doberman starts wobbling it’s head back and forth much like a bobblehead toy. They are fully coherent they can respond to commands and their head just keeps shaking back and forth. The first time you see it you are worried and you think of terms like “Wobblers syndrome” because the name sounds similar to what you are seeing. Don’t worry this is different. If observed after a time the head shaking will stop entirely. No one knows why, or what causes it yet, that is why it is called ideopathic. I have seen it in a few Dobermans over the years and I always thought it had something to do with Calcium deficiency much like muscle spasms or charlie horses in people. Sure enough if I gave the dog a “tums” once an episode had started, it stopped immediately. A friend then asked me if it stopped so quickly could it be the tums at all? I agreed science said that was not possible, so I tried just putting my finger down the dogs throat. Sure enough that stopped it altogether as well. It turns out for whatever reason, the swallow reflex interrupts the head shaking and they return to normal. It isn’t necessary to shove your fingers down their throat to get the desired response, you can simply throw a few pieces of kibble down on the floor to them, and as they clean them up, the head shaking stops. Certainly we will update you with more information as research teaches us more about the condition, but for now, this is the best information we can provide.
